Results of the Western Branch Striking Competitions

A big thank you to everyone who turned out on Saturday 2nd August 2025 to support the branch striking competitions.  We had an excellent day’s ringing and everyone I spoke to seems to have a good time, even if it was a bit stressful whilst they were ringing.  Approximately 50 ringers attended and we had 11 teams participating.  The judges were Nigel Goodship and Robin Daw from the Lancaster Branch of the Lancashire Association.

The comments against each of the teams below are based on the notes I made of the judges’ remarks.  My apologies if I’ve got anything wrong or missed something.

Some very good ringing. Less steady towards the end with slightly more errors. Watch out for the first back stroke after a change.

A little “lumpy” throughout and lacked an underlying rhythm. Faults were mainly hesitations.

Plain Bob Minor. 2nd fastest ringing of the day. Not quite as well controlled as it should have been. Possibly too fast for the band. Faults from leading too quickly.

Congratulations to Huddersfield on their win in the Method competition!

Thanks to Stuart Heath for arranging this successful event.
